21660VIC Course in Basic Oxygen Administration - (4 hrs duration)
Course Outcome:
This module will provide participants with the skills and knowledge
to safely perform oxygen therapy and resuscitation in the workplace.
Entry Requirements:
Current Workplace First Aid - 'Senior First Aid' certificate, or
equivalent.

Qualification:
* Your Nationally Recognised Statement of Attainment has been

Australian Resuscitation Council recommends that you attend a

knowledge to understand the safety requirements when handling an
Automatic External Defibrillator (AED), as well as the skills to use
an AED within the first minutes after a cardiac arrest

HLTFA402B Apply Advanced First Aid - (Occupational First Aid)
Course Outcome:
This unit deals with the provision of advanced first aid
response, life support, management of casualty(s), the incident and
other first aiders, until the arrival of medical or other
assistance. This unit also addresses the establishment and
maintenance of facilities to enable or facilitate the provision of
appropriate first aid in the workplace. This unit also incorporates
the content of HLTFA404A Apply advanced resuscitation techniques.
Entry Requirements:
To undertake a course in Occupational First Aid there is a
prerequisite that participants Must hold a current Workplace First
Aid (Senior First Aid) certificate or equivalent.

Certificate & Award
Participants attending our programs will receive upon successful
completion
of our Workplace courses, a certificate which states the level of
standard attained, the date of successful completion and an expiry
date. This certificate will be valid for three (3) years.
Course Outcomes
Participants will have the skills to perform basic
administration of permitted medications
General Competencies
The course is designed to achieve a maximum level of competence
in the
time provided. Hence a variety of teaching strategies will be
employed to achieve this end including the use of such teaching
tools as Whiteboard; Overhead Transparencies; Handouts; Practical
Demonstrations; Class Practice and on-going assessment.
Upon completion of the following modules, the student will be
able to:
• State the (3) drug schedules most relevant to the first aider.
• State the various routes of administration that a first aider is
permitted to administer a medication.
• List the most common types of medications stored in a first aid
room.
• State why medications must be administered accurately.
• List the checks that must be made before administering a
medication.
• Demonstrate an ability to record medications given to a patient by
an Occupational First Aider.
Requirements to receive
The student's practical knowledge will be assessed during the
duration of the course by the instructor and theory competencies
assessed at the completion of the program.

subject
